ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION: WHAT’S NEXT FOR SOUTHERN SUDAN?

The Africa Trade Office was honored to host a seven-person delegation from the South African City of Tswhane (formerly Pretoria) led by the Executive Mayor Kgosientoso Ramkgopa on July 6, 2011. The delegation held a roundtable with Prince George’s County firms regarding specific opportunities in IT infrastructure, and construction. U.S. companies were encouraged to come to South Africa and open up operations for the long term.

Business Support

Export One AFRICA/Coaching/Business Counseling

Export One: Africa! is a comprehensive seven-week course taught by Empowering Ideas, LLC and Princeton Healthcare, LLC and a team of consultants comprised of expert practitioners engaged in markets throughout the world. This team of veterans in the international arena are actively engaged in business deals in Brazil, Korea, India, Senegal and Ghana.  The coursework includes use of a workbook, practical applications, identification of resources, case studies and live projects leading to certification and completion of a trade deal.
The uniqueness of the class is that each company that registers agrees to complete an international trade deal.  Companies are expected to complete a limited number of specially designed coaching sessions with the course consultants positioning them to complete a deal.

The didactic classwork and the coaching sessions culminate in the actual completion of a trade deal.  The process of selling is precisely what will transform your company’s understanding from that of a trader thinking about above average returns to that of an insider with successfully expanded business operations.  You will know first hand the process and requirements for negotiating a deal, vetting an international firm, qualifying products and services, pricing, insurance, securing international financing, engaging freight forwarders, complying with customs procedures, payment options and so much more.

Classes begin each spring. For more information or to register for this course, please call our office at (301) 583-3285.

To request a consultation please print and fill out our International Business Intake form.

Referrals for Business Services

An International Matrix of Services is available to firms going global.  The services are typically provided by companies with experience and expertise in specific aspects of business.  Services range from providing capital to finance an international deal, insurance, staffing, passport services, language training, cultural awareness, marketing and procurement assistance.  The Africa Trade Office does not endorse the services of any company; but it can recommend a short list of companies that you may consider.

The Matrix can be especially helpful for international firms interested in support services in order to begin operations in the U.S., expand their markets or make an investment. The International Matrix of Services can also be utilized to identify lawyers with expertise in international law, commercial real estate agents with office/warehouse space listings, distributors and marketing partners, staffing companies and trade offices – to name a few.
